The B.Arch Entrance Exam is one of the most important examinations for aspiring architecture students. It is a highly competitive exam that tests candidates on their knowledge and aptitude in the field of architecture.

The B.Arch Entrance Exam is conducted by the National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA). The exam consists of two parts: a written exam and a drawing test.

Overview:

B. Arch Eligibility:

To study a full-time BArch course, candidates must possess the below eligibility criteria:

  • Candidates must have passed their 10+2 examination or equivalent with Mathematics as one of the subjects.

  • Must have secured a minimum of 50% marks (45% marks for reserved category) in 10+2 or 

  • Should have passed 10+3 Diploma (any stream) recognized by Central/State governments with 50% aggregate marks or

  • Should have completed their International Baccalaureate Diploma, after 10 years of schooling, with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate and with Mathematics as a compulsory subject of examination.

Top B. Arch Entrance Exams:
  • National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) – One of the most popular architecture exams in India, NATA is conducted twice in a year, to give the eligibility factor for BArch admissions into the colleges. However, no common counseling is conducted and the candidates must apply individually to their preferred colleges. 
  • JEE Main Paper 2 – It is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), JEE Main Paper 2 is an important Exam for B. Arch admissions into NITs, IIITs and GFTIs and also other different private colleges.
  • Architecture Aptitude Test (AAT) – To be eligible for AAT, the candidates will have to qualify for JEE Advanced 2021. Qualified candidates will be having opportunities to secure admission into the B. Arch courses offered by IITs.

B. Arch Exam Pattern:
  • The exam will be conducted in computer-based and pen-paper mode.

  • JEE Main exam pattern for B. Arch Paper will include objectives (online) as well as drawing questions (offline).

  • Sections:

    • Part I – Mathematics – 20 MCQs + 10 numeric value based questions

    • Part II – Aptitude Test – 50 MCQs

    • Part III – Drawing Test – 2 Questions 

  • Total Number of Questions (Asked) 82 questions

  • Total Number of Questions (To be Answered) 77 questions (Mathematics- 25; Aptitude- 50; Drawing- 2)

  • Candidates can answer 5 out of the 10 numerical value answer-based questions asked in Mathematics.

  • Exam Duration – 3 Hours

  • Exam Medium The question papers at all exam centers will be in Hindi and English. For exam centers in Gujarat, Daman & Diu and Dadra & Nagar Haveli, the medium of exam will also be available in Gujarati.

  • Marking Scheme All questions in Mathematics, Aptitude and Planning-based sections have equal weightage. 4 marks will be given for every correct response.  For JEE Main Drawing Test, marks will be allotted on the basis of the student’s drawing skills.

  • Negative Marking  For each wrong answer in MCQs, 1 mark will be deducted. Questions for which answers have a Numeric Value will be allotted 4 marks for every correct response, -1 with a negative marking in case of an incorrect answer.
